Singapore Account Based Ticketing (ABT) System Development & Maintenance

MSI Global worked hand in hand with LTA to progressively roll out a new account based ticketing (ABT) system in Singapore as part of Singapore’s Smart Nation vision. This new ABT system had to be designed to work in conjunction with the existing card based ticketing (CBT) system (known in Singapore as CEPAS). The ABT pilot spanned from 2016-2018 when we partnered with Mastercard, Visa and NETS to progressively develop a stable cashless payment system that allows users to seamlessly utilize public transport services and track their journey via the TransitLink SimplyGo Portal or the TL SimplyGo app.

The user journey is illustrated here:

The ABT pilot was successful, and was eventually launched under the “SimplyGo” brand in April 2019. SimplyGo has proven to be successful in Singapore’s public transport infrastructure as it eliminated the need for fare top-ups and train/bus tickets. MSI Global is proud to have been instrumental in supporting Singapore’s Land Transport Authority in the end-to-end development and maintenance of Asia’s first ABT deployment.
